the second book in the series, Turner's Flight (Published in
2001), it takes place from the autumn of 1915 to the spring
of 1916, during the period historians refer to as the "Fokker
Scourge." During this short period, the German Airforce
gained what we now call Air Superiority with Fokker monoplanes
and forward-firing machine guns. Turners Flight focuses on the
commanding officer of and aggressive British squadron, outstanding
for its effective tactics.
Pioneer aviator Will Turner leads his men in a desperate battle
for supremacy over the trenches of the Western Front. In the
air they must pit their obsolet4e machines against the pilots
of the German Air Service who are laying down the rules of air
combat with their deadly new Fokker monoplanes. On the ground
Will must deal with his eccentric commanding officer, and treachery
that threatens their very lives.
